Inrush-current limiting Resistors to charge the DC-Link Capacitor – Wirewound Fixed Resistors from Ty-Ohm - COMPOTEC electronics GmbH

As the European sales representation of our manufacturers, our company is providing the connecting link to the direct customers and distributors. The focus of our line card is on capacitors and resistors. I’m very glad about your interest in our products and I’m always at your disposal for your inquiries.

Dieter Burger

Ty-Ohm

The company Ty-Ohm from Taiwan is the largest manufacturer of wirewound resistors globally. In more than 6 billion chargers and power supplies Ty-Ohm’s wirewound resistors have been used already.

To limit the inrush-current arising during the charging-process of the DC-link capacitor, Ty-Ohm offers a wide range of wirewound resistors. They are available in axial, radial and in SMD- version, as well as in a ceramic case filled with cement. Optionally all types can be offered with an integrated thermal fuse.

A detailed description of the benefits to limit inrush-currents with Ty-Ohm’s wirewound fixed resistors instead with a temperature-dependent resistor (NTC or PTC) can be found in this White Paper.

The White Paper also explains Ty-Ohm’s specified fusing characteristics Standard Fusing, Fail-Safe Fusing I and Fail-Safe Fusing II.

For further information to Ty-Ohm please visit the company website or ask us for the company presentation.

If you are interested to limit inrush-currents with a wirewound fixed resistor from Ty-Ohm, then please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will be very pleased helping you to find the optimum solution for your application.
